Authenticity: It deserves a Closer Look

All businesses have a repetitive side. To handle recurring tasks with minimal risk, you need good processes.

But, don’t blindly accept that they are good. Accept that you are going to find a lot of unnecessary foolishness.

Many practices are likely to be outdated, inefficient, or ineffective. There will be abundant opportunities to improve them, but only:

… if you give up the need to be perfect
for the opportunity to be authentic.”

Let your guard down and open up your mind to the possibilities. Extend this invitation to everyone in your organisation.

The law says that you should be “on the offensive to search for, detect and eliminate any possible area of risk.” Risk is so often found in the process.

Sometimes your observations will evade a clear conclusion but help you discover more subtleties. This will polish your thinking and fine-tune your methods.

Be proud of your risk management achievements, but don’t let that pride be a source of resistance. Remember, only a fool knows everything
